Sentrong Pagpapalakas ng Negritong Kultura at Kalikasan
Center for the Advancement of Negrito Culture and the Environment
SPNKK is an organization that aims to promote collective action through the formation of an umbrella network of the Negrito groups in the Philippines.
SPNKK traces its roots to a number of Negrito cultural revival festivals beginning in 2010. These events were held in various parts of the country to celebrate the Negritos’ rich cultural heritage and collective identity as societies with a tradition of hunting and gathering.
As hunter-gatherers in transition with a tradition of flexibility and mobility, it is often a challenge for Negrito groups to address common issues. SPNKK aims to bring these vulnerable groups together to speak with a collective voice and work toward the development of a national platform for the advancement of indigenous rights to land and natural resources and the promotion of cultural integrity.
